The BMC2 Coordinating Center’s Kathleen Frazier presented the poster “Using Intravascular Imaging to Optimize Percutaneous Coronary Intervention Treatment” during the 2024 ACC Quality Summit, September 17th – 19th in San Antonio, Texas.

Data consistently reveal procedural and long-term benefits for patients when intravascular imaging is used to optimize percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI).  However, underutilization of this technology is believed to be due to operator and staff inexperience with these technologies.

By providing education and resources to clinicians and their staff regarding rationale, clinical techniques, and workflow integration of intravascular imaging, BMC2 has increased use of these technologies throughout Michigan.

This has resulted in improved procedural safety and clinical outcomes for patients and decreased cost for payers.
