I am excited to announce that the Coping with AdveRse EventS (CARES) peer support program is now available to BMC2 vascular surgeons.

Dr. Nick Osborne has short brown hair and blue-rimmed glasses. He is smiling and wearing a dark jacket, light-colored windowpane patterned collared dress shirt, and a green tie.

The Michigan Urological Surgery Improvement Collaborative (MUSIC) first created CARES, and we are honored to partner with them to bring this resource to BMC2.

CARES is designed to connect surgeons – facing personal or work stressors – with trusted colleagues for one-to-one conversations, support, and resources. It is free and confidential.

There is increasing evidence that shows experiencing complications during a procedure can lead to long-term negative psychological complications for surgeons and impact how we treat future patients. With CARES, BMC2 hopes to foster the well-being of physicians and those in their care.

You’ll find more about CARES on our website and in the “Top Stories” section of the BMC2 March Newsletter. Read our newsletter for information about BMC2 publications, upcoming meetings, opportunities for engagement, and more.

Thank you for your partnership and commitment to improving cardiovascular quality of care and patient outcomes across Michigan.

Nick Osborne, MD, MS
Director of BMC2
