The MiCR Spring Webinar was held on April 5, 2024. Network co-directors, Mike Thompson and Devraj Sukul, shared MiCR updates before welcoming Quinn Pack, the medical director of Cardiac Rehab and Wellness at Baystate Health. Dr. Pack shared regional efforts to improve cardiac rehab utilization and shared resources including the SCAR trial – showing equivalent safety of a two-week versus six-week start to cardiac rehab after surgery – and an observational study by Mayo Clinic about early cardiac rehab after surgery. The average enrollment time in this study was just nine days after discharge.

We also heard a 2024 legislative update from Jenna Scott who is the treasurer & health care policy and reimbursement co-chair of the Michigan Society for Cardiovascular Pulmonary Rehabilitation (MSCVPR) and director of clinical operations at Ucardia and Greg Scharf, the cardiopulmonary rehab manager at MyMichigan Health. To support two legislative bills aimed at improving access to cardiac rehab, access the MiCR Legislative Advocacy Package.
